Open House #2

The second Open House was held on October 2, 2023, once again at JCCNC. Participants were shown a presentation of the two archetypal concepts Kanso and Datsuzoku, both of which reflected the changes voiced in previous meetings and surveys. Kanso represented a visually similar design, in which most key characteristics were largely preserved, save for changes due to accessibility requirements. Datsuzoku represented a more sweeping revision in which the cobblestone river was reinterpreted and more seating and greenery was added. Both designs entail a restoration of the fountains and improved lighting.

Participants were once again encouraged to write down their thoughts for SF Planning and Public Works to record and incorporate into future designs.

One of the key design questions was centered on the exact type of foliage desired, with the options being for cherry blossoms, male ginkgo trees, or both.
