Merchant Outreach Discussion

The Japantown Task Force and San Francisco Planning Department co-hosted an event alongside the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) to discuss the upcoming changes with merchants along Osaka Way.

Although the merchants expressed confidence in the ultimate execution and design of the project, they voiced significant concerns around the construction period and how their business would be impacted as a result of halted foot traffic. As of the date of the discussion, construction is slated to commence at the beginning of 2025 and last for approximately 12 months.
