JARF Meeting

The Community Outreach Team was invited to meet with the Japanese American Religious Federation (JARF) to present on the project and seek any input from its members on incorporating a spiritual element into the design. One of the main requests that surfaced was to restore Osaka Way as a processionary space that leads to Peace Plaza, referencing the Obon ceremonies that used to be held on what was formerly Buchanan Street. Additional discussion was focused on the Japanese garden gate, which is often mistaken for a Torii gate, as a welcoming centerpiece to visitors.
