Open House #1

The First Open House was held on May 31, 2023 at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC). The purpose of the meeting was to brief the community on the upcoming upgrade plans for Osaka Way.

Participants were provided with the history of Buchanan Mall / Osaka Way and informed about the existing conditions of the site. The community had also preliminarily identified several top priorities for the project, such as restoring the fountains, bringing the paving to ADA compliance, and improving lighting and greenery.

The meeting was co-led by the Japantown Task Force, San Francisco Planning Department, and Public Works.
